The best resources for an affiliate are indeed the ones provided by the networks. After experimenting for a while, this is the conclusion I have arrived at.
A webmaster is much sensitized with self searching and searching with the popular search engines. We sometimes think or at least begin to think that finding an appropriate resource is not a problem; as long as search engines are there. One hit at the enter key after typing keywords and we have our best affiliate program. It doe not work like that, at least not in some cases.
The best thing that affiliate networks have is the contacts. We can spend a lot of time in discussion forums, google the merchants that provide programs, or ask help from another web expert. But the fact remains the fact – we do not know them, have never worked or interacted with them and therefore cannot be sure as how they will treat us.
The second best thing about affiliate networks is that they are accountable and not some mystery merchant on the other side of Great Wall of China. The network acts as a buffer and facilitator. If things go wrong; the chances are least in case of affiliate marketing networks, we can better claim the justice to be done.
The third best thing, of course the one that no one can avert, is that the services for affiliate are free. Imagine yourself being represented and business being brought to you without spending a penny. Most of the affiliate networks and providers do not charge money from affiliates. It is the merchant who has to pay, and that works fine that way.
The last and the most important thing about affiliate networks is that we get free consultations. It is like pampering and who does not want to be pampered.
